The garage. Women think of it as a place to park cars and store any miscellaneous junk that doesn't fit in the house. But it's really a man's domain. You can leave the garage as a drab, unfinished space or you can turn it into a brilliant man cave that will have all the bros in the neighborhood buzzing. Because the garage is really where boys become men.
Install a Killer Tool Area
If you're like most Americans, your tools reside in a box or thrown haphazardly in the bottom of a drawer. But if you're into DIY or building projects, installing some type of organization system, whether it be shelves, bins or hooks, lets you create the ultimate workstation to get things done more efficiently and effectively. If your tools are your baby, don't they deserve to be treated as such- shown off and on display? A pegboard lets you hang everything to have them right at hand. Depending on your interests, counter space or a workbench may be a good idea for welding, painting, drilling or sawing projects.
Set the Mood
When you think of a man cave, sexy leather couches, flatscreen TVs, crazy sound systems, and kegerators come to mind. But you can't exactly turn the garage into a whole living area to escape. Without taking too much space away from necessary car and bike storage, hanging accent pieces from your favorite sports teams, flags and banners is a good way to add a personal touch to spruce up your domain. Similarly, a chilly, drafty garage doesn't encourage hanging out for very long. Ensure temperature is regulated with a free-standing electric stove which adds a touch of visual interest and old-world charm.
Where's the Beer?
Stock the mini-fridge with a variety of seasonal and unique brews. Post-college it's no longer acceptable to have only Keystone Light or Natty Light on tap. If you want to really impress, a good cigar box and some stogies are also a worthwhile investment for when guests unexpectedly swing by. No one is going to complain if you have a good scotch on hand either.
Toys, toys, toys
At the heart of every man cave has to be his toys. Whether it be video games, comic books or the latest dirt bike, snow mobile, or muscle car, having some kind of engine revving is the main reason to hang out in the garage. From the newest Mustang you're rebuilding to Wii marathons, be sure to invite the boys over to show off the upgraded digs.
