"This was our second fireplace purchase from Fireplaces Direct and we couldn't be more pleased! It arrived so fast! It was easy to attach to the wall and we get lots of compliments. The flames are low, but that is such a nice, modern touch. Also, it comes with a choice of three inserts: log look, white marble-like rock and crushed glass. We chose the crushed glass, but its nice to have the other options to easily switch out ( perhaps we'll use the log front during the holidays.) We now have two: one in the bedroom, one in the living room. Thinking about a third for the kitchen/dining area."

"The directions for installation were inaccurate for one thing. Then technical support communication becam extremely tiresome and laborious. Questions were not answered timely and having to constantly log in and out of a website to have my questions answered was less than timely. I would receive emails telling me my question(s) were being addressed and to log into the support site, but there was nothing new. It would have been easier to simply use my email and/ or call me with the solution/resolution. Once I researched and discovered the answer on my own as to the extra wires and there potential purpose of the extra wires, I actually love the fireplace. It is beautiful, functional and decorative."

"We are finishing our basement and had 500 SF to heat. It works GREAT! It is not only beautiful, but efficient! You can change the look from the logs to the crystals and we love it. The only thing we didn't care for is that you can NOT flush mount this UNLESS you want to lose the lights on the side that light up and then, it could be a fire hazard. So it will stick out from the wall a little bit. About 3 inches, which I can deal with although it isn't preferred."

"I wanted to do something different for my casual entertaining area which adjoins our lanaii. The fireplace is the perfect ambience and really looks great on my wall besides being a heater. I bought it for something different and my friends love it and wanted to know where I bought it. Easy to assemble but a bit tricky hooking the fireplace to the bracket on the wall. Other than that I would highly recommend to prospective shoppers. The lights add a nice glow on the wall also. Thank You for bringing a delightful product to all of us consumers."

"I bought this for my man cave I set up in my basement. Package arrived very well packed. Installation was easy. I put it on the wall behind my bar. The cord comes out the side, so I had to wrap it around the back. It would be nice if it had a rear outlet. Receiving great comments from friends. I have only tried the heating feature to see if it works, and it is quiet and seems like it will heat my 350 sq. feet with no problem."

"Well packaged for shipping. Quick delivery. However, within 2 weeks of installation, the Unit started to have an issue with the motor that is part of the faux flame generator. It starrted making disturbing noise. It's obviously a common issue as it it listed as one of the troubleshooting issues in the manual. Manufacturer was easy to work with to set up sending a new motor, but I have to take it off the wall, and disassemble to replace. One other note...the unit is a bit difficult to mount on the wall hanger, and our experience was that it was at least a 2-person job."

"Love the product. Only complaint I have is that if you want to make it look cordless, you have to mount next to a outlet that the bezel of the fireplace would hide. The fireplace mounts flush against the wall, so I had to move an outlet so the plug wouldn't show. Love everything about the electric fireplace. "There is no glass in front, very hard to clean without scratching it. For the side lights to work you can not mount it flush. It has to stick our 3 inches. Not usable at all. If I knew there was no glass, I would have never bought it."

"This is a lovely fireplace and the advantage of NOT getting heat, unless I want it, is great for Florida. The flames adjust to six different levels and colors. The embers even adjust in colors. It is a nice addition to my living room. It does heat and keeps my central unit from working full time when the temps are in the 30's, and will keep the living open kitchen area warm when outside temps are in the 50's."

"This is actually a nice heater which I purchased for supplemental heat for a family room in the basement. I placed it on the wall with the enclosed brackets. The heater does take a while to assemble and was quite difficult getting the brackets aligned for wall mounting. It does a decent job of heating our room and even though it is not "real", we have gotten used to the "flames". I would recommend to someone wanting ambiance with supplemental heat."

"This is a really nice looking fireplace when it is turned on. We would have loved it if it came with glass on the front to cover the flame/log area. This was a really disappointing purchase because it does not say anywhere in the description or specification or reviews that this fireplace does not have a glass front. In order to return it the cost will be potentially more than $300 (the seller was not able to give us a more specific price to ship it back.) So we have a dust collector fireplace sitting in a box, uninstalled because it is really not worth the trouble to ship it back. So if anyone wants a good deal on this fireplace & you want to pick it up, we have one available in Morden, MB. Please check the Pembina Valley online or Varage Sale classifieds & you will find it."

The thermostat setting range is 62°F - 82°F or 17°C - 27°C

Can the side light be turned off?

Yes the sides lights can be turned off.

I want to put this in a dining room. How loud is the fan? Is it silent?

The fan is very quite, and would only be considered a low hum.

Is the use of the black metal surround necessary? I would like to make my own out of 1x4 wood or if that is a fire hazard, a 4" wide, 2/3" thick cement frame. I can live without the side lighting. Thanks

The surround is necessary.

Hi, What side of this unit does the power cord come out of? Also, how long is the power cord? Thanks

The cord comes from the right side back and is 6ft long.

What material is the outside black frame? Thanks

It is a black glass frame.

What material is the outside black frame? Thanks

It is a black glass frame.

There is no mention of running costs on any advertisement for wall hanging electric fire places. Looking at this one with an impressive 1000 sq ft but would like to know at least a ball park figure on running costs.

It costs on the average 12-14¢ per hour depending on your local utility rates.

If the unit is flush mounted, where is the air intake? From the pictures it looks like it is on either side of the heating element in the front? but I wanted to confirm there is no intake on the sides of the unit that would be recessed into the wall.

It can not be flush mounted. It can be recessed with about an 1" - 1-1/2" sticking out. It is a top vented heater with side lights.

Does the unit require a dedicate power line or can you just plug it into a regular wall socket?

I plugged it in to a regular wall plug ,but I do not use the heater. Thank you,Larry Torbett

Regular wall socket is fine. Barry Hill, CIC, CBIA Fisher-Greene Insurance Agency Keystone Insurers Group PO Box 275 Granite Quarry, NC 28072

This fireplace will draw close to 15 Amps by itself. A dedicated wall outlet would be best, if not you want to make sure that there are not a lot of other appliances or lights being used by the same circuit breaker/circuit. Sent from my iPhone

It does not require a dedicated line. Sent from my iPhone Esther Weiner

I am direct wiring this unit to a dedicated line and breaker, do you cut and disguard the two small gauge wires connected to the power cord? I do not want to cut if they are there for a reason, and why wouldn't the wiring directions explain what they are and what to do with them...Thank You for your time.

For assistance, it would be best if you contact the manufacturer or an electrician.

What is the fan noise level specification in dba's?

The heater produces a low hum when in use. The dba level is not available.

Can we have natural stone ( marble) as a decorative borders around classic flame 47" infrared fireplace? Should we leave any clearance around?

As long as you can fasten the unit properly on each side, and it's stable in its pocket, You should be able to do that. The glass surround overlaps whatever wall finish you are using. Sent from my BB10 smartphone Reply To: Reply-To-Answer

The box you have to make for fire place (according to the manual) already gives a bit of clearance to the for fire place, you don't need extra. yes as the heat comes out the front.

You can use any material as a decorative boarder. Marble is fine. There are instructions on how big to make the opening for the unit to sit it. You can follow those instructions. The fireplace does come out of the wall an inch hence there is no direct heat which comes out of the sides of the unit - only the top is where the heater is. Sent from my iPhone

Can the unit be run without heating yet still show the flames?

The flame function is independent of the heat function for year around enjoyment

Is the use of the black metal surround necessary? I would like to make my own out of 1x4 wood or if that is a fire hazard, a 4" wide, 2/3" thick cement frame. I can live without the side lighting. Thanks

Can the unit be turned on with a switch instead of the remote?

Yes the on/off is on the right side of unit.

Is this product cool touch so little ones don't burn themselves when they walk by and touch the glass? Also what is the clearance requirements for installation under the TV?

Can this be recessed mounted on an outside wall in basement? Would it be too close to the foundation with no insulation behind it?

You would need a vapor barrier installed to install on an outside wall.

Important Point to Consider: Find out if it is a load-bearing wall before you cut into/remove studs to install the fireplace. It can affect structural integrity.

Hi, What side of this unit does the power cord come out of? Also, how long is the power cord? Thanks

The cord comes from the right side back and is 6ft long.

Does the heat work if recessed?

Yes it is designed to be fully functional when recessed.

Comments have been made that the front is glass with an open center. Is the front of the unit completely enclosed with glass??

It is not enclosed in glass. The center is open.

I want to put this in a dining room. How loud is the fan? Is it silent?

The fan is very quite, and would only be considered a low hum.

Can the power outlet be concealed behind the unt so no cord shows? And can the unit remain plugged in while we operate only with the remote? Thanks

A recessed plug can be positioned behind the glass overhang or unit can be recessed into the wall. The unit must be plugged to operate.

What is the highest thermostat reading?

I plan to put a flat screen tv on the wall above the fireplace. How much distance should there be between the fireplace and the tv.?

Generally 8 -12 inches.

Has anyone experienced any problem with having the front open? Does it look more "normal fireplace" with front open? Is this safe for a child? Is it difficult to clean?

The unit does not get hot. It can be cleaned quite easily. There are no issues in center opening of the fireplace. It is a very popular unit.

It is safe for a child, as it is not hot, however I would not recommend your young children around it as they can grab and break those plastic pieces as they are fragile.

I have been researching fireplaces quite a bit. Am I able to safely mount this underneath a flat screen TV? Is the vent on the top of the unit or on the front?

The vent is on the top front of unit. You can mount it under a TV. The manufacturer recommends 2" clearance around the unit.

if I mount this unit in the wall (not recessed), how many inches is going to stick out from the wall, what is going to be the Depth? some websites says is 10 inches depth in total. But some pictures shows is 5 inches? How can I get the right depth when mounted flat in the wall/

The dimensions are 46.6" W x 19.75" H x 5" D. If just hung on the wall it will stick out 5".

I cannot tell you exactly but I would say 5 inches is a max.  We recessed ours and someone else installed it in the wall he built and I was not here to see the install.  I say the fireplace when I took it out of the box and it is only four or five inches deep and it fastens on the wall fairly flat as I recall.   Sent: Friday, November 04, 2016 1:09 AM

Cannot be fully recessed/flush with the wall: the distance from hinges where is secured to wall to front side of the glass is 1 1/4". Also you have to have it this much out for air flow, it has a fan which sucks from top side and vents out on upper side too. The side lights are at the same level with the hinges. If you solve somehow the problem with the air flow if totally recessed you lose the side lights which are cool.

The small wires are probably ground wires. When you direct wire you will probably use 14-2 with ground. The ground wire will connect to the ground post in the unit. Unit works great we use it often. Good luck.

Nothing my husband hardwired our unit and didn't use those wires we think they are for the safety plug. Bonnie Hayden

I plan to put a flat screen tv on the wall above the fireplace. How much distance should there be between the fireplace and the tv.?

Generally 8 -12 inches.

Does this come with a table top mount

Yes it comes with a base for table top application.

How is the heat directed? It would be mounted directly below a 65" wall mounted TV. Will the heater be an issue in this case?

The heater is on the front top of unit. Manufacturer recommends 2" clearance around top and and sides of unit.

Can I mount this on wall above Roman bath tub?

This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate this appliance where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container. Warranty is void if the fireplace is subjected to prolonged periods of dampness or condensation.

Love this fireplace but I have read that it doesnt come with GLASS on the front???? Are you able to stick your hand right in to the back? I can see this as being a major dust collector?? We want to order two of the them but very hesitant now that we hear it has a cartridge???

It has a glass frame and open center. You can use canned air to distinguish dust if that is an issue. It does not have a cartridge of any kind.

How far does the unit stick out when mounted to wall? What's the average electrical bill increase?

It is 5" deep. It costs on the average 12-14¢ per hour to run with heater.

Can I hard wire the unit from the left side facing the unit?

The wiring junction box is on the right side facing the unit.

What colors do the back lights light up in. Is it only blue or other colors

The side lights are blue, amber or blue and amber or off. The up lights are blue, white or blue and white or off.

Hi , Does the hot air come from the front? top? bottom?

The heat come from the front top of unit.

Need clarification on glass front. I have received my unit. The frame that surrounds the front is glass the center is open? Is that correct?

Yes there is a framed glass front with a center opening.

Hi, My name is Rick. Can this unit be flush mounted? If not can you tell me what it looks like sticking out of the wall as I am wanting to install this unit in a brand new spec house. Thank You.

This unit can be used as Recessed, Surface Mount or Tabletop Applications

Can the unit be run without heating yet still show the flames?

The flame function is independent of the heat function for year around enjoyment

what does the mounting hardware look like ?

An illustration of the mounting bracket and full instructions are located on page 8 of the Owner's Manual. A link to the manual is located on the product page under ITEM DETAILS.

Is there a filter associated with this unit? Does glass cover the entire viewing area? Are the controls on the front of the unit always visible? Is there any way to hard wire the unit for 208/240 volt?? thanks Jay

The wiring requirements as stated in manual are: Use appropriate wire to meet local and national electrical codes for rated power consumption. All wire gauges should be 12 gauge solid wires with a dedicated 15 amp breaker for 120 volts It does not have a filter. There is a glass frame on front with opening in middle. The touch screen controls will fade after 3 seconds.

I plan to recess this unit into the wall. How much clearance does it need from the wall and what is the standard distance from the floor to the bottom of the fireplace Thanks Mike

When partially recessed this fireplace is zero clearance design. A minimum of 2" is recommended from the floor but there is not a standard height requirement. Please refer to the manual located on item page under Specifications for full installation requirements and instructions.

What is the fan noise level specification in dba's?

The heater produces a low hum when in use. The dba level is not available.

Does this unit have a glass front on the fire box?

No it does not and looks better without one! Sent from my iPhone

No, it doesn't Sent from my iPhone

No. It doesn't but it is not necessary. Heat comes out of too. Unit is really nice. We had it hard wired so you don't see the cord. Sent from my iPhone Esther Weiner

No glass on front...only a frame around it. Great product.

Black glass frames the firebox but no glass over the front. Sent from my iPhone

No this does not have glass, but once I received unit I was very impressed

This unit does not have a glass front that covers the Logs/rocks. You have a choice to use the logs or the Rocks to put in front of the fire. The screen for the fire is in the background and is not covered by glass. But it is a nice fireplace and it has a temp control for the heater.

Yes Sent from my iPad

Yes Sent from my iPhone

Can the unit be turned on with a switch instead of the remote?

Yes the on/off is on the right side of unit.

Does this unit have a fan?

Yes it is a fan forced air heater.

The heater does take a while to assemble and was quite difficult getting the brackets aligned for wall mounting.
