People - just do-it-yourself and MAKE THIS FIREPLACE ROCK !! I added "stick down 'stone' tiles" that I cut to brick sized pieces and it makes a TOTALLY AMAZING difference - even painted "blacked-ash" on the back wall to create more realism -- try it people - it took NO TIME and makes a HUGE difference....even added different 6"x6" "stone" tile pieces to the mantle.... LOVE THIS ADDITION TO MY LIVING ROOM !!

It's perfect for our living room. Best of all, it's the closest I've seen to a real or gas flame. I highly recommend this model! We're also looking a moving in the next few years. Pull the plug and head out with this fireplace!

The flames are very realistic and people are impressed by the technology. Really adds to the ambiance of the room without having to deal with the hassles of gas or wood.
However, the frame of the mantel was chipped. Also, the poor quality of wood and craftsmanship of the mantel does not reflect the expensive price. There wasn't any choice of mantel which is unfortunate for such great technology. It would be nice if the inside of the fireplace had brick lining to make it look more realistic.

Picture doesnt do the fireplace justice. Its very beautiful and adds alot to our living room. The flame is so awesome. I do think a brick background would have been a better look. Also a better way to hold the firebox in place instead of nuts and screws. When I pushed the drawer in the whole firebox moved, so had to redo the screws.

My husband and I have wanted to add a fireplace to our living room for quite some time. After researching found the OptiMyst. The flame is so realistic! An affordable price and simple installation (no outside venting or major construction/remodeling)! No need to bring wood or pellets through the house, no ash removal, and safer than a wood-burning unit. So glad we went with electric! It really adds life to the room and will make this Christmas very special!

This technology is amazing. Guests in my home can't tell it's not real flame. I run it constantly and am still amazed at it's realism. Cons: Logs are mini sized (thought they would be larger). Drawer doesn't always stay closed. Insert only not available (built my own surround). Stuck with a huge box of mantle wood going unused. Expensive but realism can't be beat.
